Political Science
About Department
After the establishment of K.N. College at Karanja Lad, the department of political Science naturally came into existence in 1961.
As the college has undertaken the responsibility of spreading higher education in the rural area, a large number of students from the villages are attached to the college. Though the students are from rural areas, their sensibility regarding rural politics is very strong. The election of the local bodies like Gram Panchayat and Co-operative Societies is the subject of their deep interest. As a result, many of the rural students have been offering Political Science as one of their favorite optional subjects.
The students, who have offered Political Science as an optional subject, develop keen analytical abilities about the Political processes and the vicissitudes of politics in the nation. To keep students in touch with Political aspect of the nation, the Department has formed “Political Science Association.” It has undertaken multi dimensional programs and projects to make students aware of the current relevance of the subject and to arouse their interest in the subjects.
The association has also organized seminars, group discussions, debates and symposium throughout the year. The Department has not only taught the prescribed syllabus but also has tried to change and develop the personalities of the students, which would help them to face the4 challenges of the modern area.
The Department has given personal attention to the welfare of the students and enabled them to prepare for competitive examinations. It has given personal guidance to the external students who are preparing for such examinations. Many of our students chose Political Science as their favorite optional subject in the competitive examination and scored noteworthy marks. Still there is a craze among students for choosing this subject at various levels. The Department also helps the external students to prepare for SET, NET MPSC and UPSC Competitive examinations.
